After previewing a bit of new music during his solo tour this past fall, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh turned it up several notches during a private performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles last week.
'A Different Kind of Truth' is the first Van Halen album with David Lee Roth since 1984 and you can get your hands on it today! The album has 13 songs - some of the songs they used to perform back in the 70's but never made it on an album, and others are reworked demos. 'USA Today' has given the album 3 and a half out of four stars.
The slow leak of new songs from Van Halen‘s ‘A Different Kind of Truth‘ continued on Wednesday night’s episode of ‘CSI’ on CBS. ‘Stay Frosty’ was one of two songs (‘Tattoo‘ was the other) included during a scene in which Marg Helgenberger and Ted Danson’s characters hid out in a strip club.
The name of ‘Blood and Fire,’ a newly-previewed song from Van Halen‘s ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ album, probably won’t ring familiar to longtime fans of the band. But Alex Van Halen’s beat and Eddie Van Halen’s noodling on the track may take some knowledgeable fans back to the mid-’80s. That’s because the new song — previewed in the video below — is based on an instrumental called ‘Ripley’ from ‘The Wild Life’ movie.
While Bruce Springsteen hasn’t leaked too many deets about his 17th studio album, his manager Jon Landau says it has “social overtones” and “a very pronounced spiritual dimension.” And now we know a little about its first single, ‘We Take Care of Our Own.’
Reportedly a few lucky people have already gotten to hear the new Van Halen record ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ well ahead of its Feb. 7 street date. Judging from the internet accounts of these highly guarded listening sessions, the band’s first outing with original singer David Lee Roth in nearly 30 years is going to make fans pretty happy.
It may not always come easy, but that hasn’t stopped our beloved Ringo Starr from rocking on year after year. Whether on tour with his ‘All Starr Band’ or in the studio recording new material, the ever youthful Mr. Starr just keep rolling along musically.
He sings just one line, and he doesn’t even appear onscreen. But former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant certainly makes his presence felt in the video for English opera star Alfie Boe’s new version of the Tim Buckley tune ‘Song to the Siren.’
Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed, who with over 20 years served is the second only to Axl Rose in terms of tenure, was recently kind enough to speak to us on the eve of the the band’s first North American tour (see dates below) in five years.
