Fans can expect a Rolling Stones reunion in London, as Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor have been confirmed as special guests for both the Nov. 25 and Nov. 29 shows at the O2 Arena. The dates are the first on the bands 50 and Counting tour, which includes shows in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Newark, N.J. before year's end.
The Rolling Stones have released the latest in their Stones Archive series of classic concerts. Last month saw the group put out a 2005 club date from Toronto, and the newest show available for download is their July 25, 1982 performance at Roundhay Park in Leeds.
Prior to kicking off major tours, the Rolling Stones like to play an intimate club date to get a feel for an audience once again. Eleven days before the 2005 Bigger Bang tour began the rockers piled into the Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto to play new music and test a few covers on fans. That show is now available for download at the band's archive website.
We know for certain there will be four Rolling Stones performances this year, but that doesn't mean you might not see the band playing somewhere other than London's O2 Arena or New Jersey's Prudential Center. Guitarist Ron Wood just stated that there might be some warm-up dates using one of the band's fake names.
One of the great myths in rock history is the rivalry between the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. In fact, despite their sonic differences, the groups were good friends and often timed their releases so that they wouldn't coincide with each other.
Earlier today (Oct. 15), the Rolling Stones announced that they will perform four concerts -- two in London and two in Newark, N.J. -- in the coming months. Those who are unable to make those shows can now rest easy. The final show of the '50 and Counting' mini-tour will be shown live on pay-per-view in the United States.
You gotta give it to the Rolling Stones; these guys never stop touring. And it looks like that hasn't changed, because the band's guitarist, Keith Richards, revealed that the group has a couple of live shows lined up in both London and New York.
