The St. Cloud State Huskies took on top-ranked North Dakota Friday afternoon in a National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff semifinal. SCSU likely punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 win.

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced the start times for two Frozen Faceoff semifinal games scheduled for Friday at Target Center.

The St. Cloud State Men's Hockey team (15-17-1) lost to the visiting and seventh-ranked Denver University Pioneers (20-11-2) 3-2 Friday night at the Herb Brook's National Hockey Center. The rematch is set for 7 PM tonight in St. Cloud.

The St. Cloud State Huskies Men's Hockey team (15-14-1) completed the weekend sweep over fifth ranked Nebraska-Omaha (17-10-3) with a 2-0 win last night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. It was the first time Omaha had been swept this season.

Both the St. Cloud State Huskies (13-14-1) and the Minnesota Golden Gophers (17-9-3) men's hockey teams scored wins over conference opponents tonight. The Huskies skated to a 4-3 win over Nebraska-Omaha at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Minnesota beat Penn State 2-1 on the road.

After cruising to a 7-0 win Friday night, and charging to an early 2-0 lead last night, the SCSU Huskies (10-13-1, 5-8-1) gave up three unanswered third period goals -- watching their hopes of a weekend sweep slip away; falling to the Western Michigan Broncos (11-10-3, 4-7-3) 3-2.

It was a big night on the ice for the St. Cloud State Men (10-12-1, 5-7-1) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center last night -- shutting out visiting Western Michigan (10-10-3, 3-7-3) 7-0. The shutout was SCSU's first of the year, and snapped a 2-game Husky losing streak.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team is picked to finish 3rd in the NCHC preseason poll. St. Cloud State is the defending NCHC regular season champ. North Dakota is picked to win the conference title with 181 total points from the 25 media members who voted.

Thorson is the fifth player from last season's SCSU team to sign a pro contract, joining Nic Dowd, Kevin Gravel, Ryan Faragher and Joey Holka.

Dowd scored 121 points in his four seasons at SCSU.

The Huskies were outshot 35-24 for the contest. SCSU finishes the season 22-11-5.
