NBC has been surprisingly quiet about ‘SNL’'s impending 40th anniversary special, but VH1 has upped the nostalgia ante in a major way. VH1 Classic will begin a 19-day marathon of ‘SNL’'s 40 years on January 28, working backwards through 433 episodes and staging themed mini-marathons along the way.
Tracy Morgan ('30 Rock,' 'Saturday Night Live') is in critical condition after a six-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning. Morgan had been riding in a limo bus from Dover, Delaware where he performed Friday night.
Frequently due to time, or a host throwing in more ad-lib lines than scripted, the honchos at SNL will drop a sketch from the show. It happened again, with Louis at the 'helm', so to speak (You'll get the joke when you watch the video).
Wes Anderson's incredibly distinctive style has been parodied before, but rarely with the skill that 'SNL' and host Edward Norton displayed in the most recent episode of everyone's favorite comedy variety show. A pre-recorded bit, the fake trailer for 'The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders,' imagines what an Anderson-directed horror movie would look like and the results are near perfect.
Last night's season finale of SNL was a huge deal. Not because Ben Affleck was hosting (although he was great), but because it was the final episode for Bill Hader and head writer/Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers. The show had to send them off in style and that could only mean one thing: the final appearance of Stefon.
Although much of last night's SNL was fairly standard (albeit, very funny) stuff, there was one sketch where it felt like host Zach Galifiankis was allowed to run wild. The scene found the 'Hangover' star playing the host of a public access TV show about how to entertain guests in your home and...well...let's just say that you have to watch it.
Some SNL hosts just feel like they were born to be on that stage and Zach Galifiankis is one of them. Rather than do a traditional monologue, he performed six minutes of his oddball, avant garde stand-up comedy. It was a great reminder that he may be a big movie star now, but he's still one of the great modern comedians.
NBC's other major late-night force 'SNL' has very much stepped up its game in the last few outings, with this past Saturday's Melissa McCarthy-fronted turn proving almost as entertaining as her original stint in 2011. This Saturday however, upcoming 'The Internship' star Vince Vaughn will take the 'SNL' stage for the second time with musical guest Miguel, but will he rise to the challenge? Check out the latest 'SNL' promos to find out!
