This has suddenly been the big topic of debate in the last couple years, and I think it's a huge waste of time and money. Minnesota wants to change the tobacco minimum age to 21 years old.
I don't smoke, but I used to as a teenager, so I understand the topic first-hand. I want to make it clear how ridiculous it is that this is even a topic we're talking about.
The St. Cloud city council has voted to hold a study session in October on the possibility of changing the tobacco buying age, instead of holding a public hearing.
St. Cloud could be the next city to raise the minimum age to buy tobacco products to 21. During Monday night's meeting the city council will set a public hearing for October 9th to discuss the issue.
