DELANO -- A teenager with a felony warrant was arrested for allegedly stealing a gun this weekend.

The incident happened just before noon on Saturday in Delano.

Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty says they received a call of a suspicious person near the library.

When officers arrived they found a 17-year-old boy who initially gave them a false name.

Police were later able to identify the boys real name and found he had a felony warrant for his arrest in Scott County.

Authorities also found a stolen handgun in his bag.

The boy was arrested and taken to the Wright County Jail.

Detectives are investigating the case to see if there are any ties to a string of residential burglaries that have occurred in Delano over the past several weeks.
