The Fastest Way to Cool Your Car in the Summer Heat
With forecasted temps in the upper 80s/lower 90s and high humidity for this weekend, it's going to be HOT!
Now that I finally have a car with a remote starter, I can start my car a few minutes before I get into it, which should be enough time to cool it off a bit.
I can. Doesn't mean I do.
I commute from Brainerd to St Cloud and back to Brainerd at least five days a week, depending on live appearances on weekends (such a first-world problem). That's at least 600 miles every week. Even with a fairly fuel-efficient car, that's still a big gasoline bill every week. Even though I can start my car ahead of time, I don't.
So what's the quickest way to cool off a car that's been sitting in the sun for 8+ hours?
The overheated folks at Thrillist conducted an experiment, looking for the fastest way to cool down a hot car.
They tried four techniques:
1. Blast the A/C in a parked car
B. Blast the A/C while driving with the windows down
C. Blast the A/C while driving with the windows up
4. Fanning the driver's side door with the passenger window down and THEN blast the A/C and drive with the windows up
What a bunch of nuts.

Door number four is the correct answer, although who wants to go through all of that physical work on a roasting hot day? Not this lazy DJ...
