This could get ugly.

A new study released by Florida State University has found that doing the dishes can help you clear your mind.

FSU broke 51 students into two groups, giving (just over or under) half of them a passage to read that describes the full dishwashing experience, while the rest read a passage about simply getting the dishes clean. Both groups were then asked to wash dishes.

Turns out that the students who read about the full-on experience reported a 27% decrease in nervousness and a 25% increase in mental inspiration.

Note: the dishes given to the students were actually clean. I'm guessing that if they had 3-day-hardened food stuck to them, the benefits would be a bit (read: a lot) lower.

 

But look at the bright side: it might get the kids (or the wife...or the husband) to finally just DO THE DAMN DISHES.
