Rock of Ages used music to enhance the story, but with this new stage production, rock and roll is the story. Interesting? Or Cheesy?

Joe Lynn Turner formerly of Rainbow conceived the idea for this and it sounds a little odd to me, but I could be wrong.

Joe Lynn says that the show, called Raiding the Rock Vault is set in the year 2070 and a comet has crashed into the planet Earth. It's then "a group of raiders" who go out exploring and find a vault full of classic rock. They then tell the story of the history of classic rock through acting and music from Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Deep Purple. You could walk into my house and find a vault full of classic rock, but apparently it's cooler when it's a group of raiders that do it after a bunch of stuff has exploded.

If what they do is successful, he wants to see it turn into something along the lines of Trans-Siberian Orchestra so Joe Lynn can take the production on tour and to New York City's Broadway. Some of the names attached to the project include not only Joe Lynn, but also Howard Leese of Heart, Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns and Paul Shortino, formerly of Quiet Riot.

Raiding the Rock Vault makes its premiere at The Mayan Theater in Los Angeles tonight.
