The Weekender: Big Names in Rock, The Diary of Anne Frank, & More!
This weekend features a wide variety of music as the Fabulous Armadillos wrap up their Guilty Pleasures show at Pioneer Place, classic rockers Blue Oyster Cult and Jefferson Starship perform at the Medina Entertainment Center, and Smash Mouth and Uncle Kracker visit Mystic Lake. Along with the music, stage performances include the unique dance performances of TU Dance at St. Ben's and GREAT Theatre's The Diary of Anne Frank debuts at the Paramount Theatre. Two long-time critically and commercially successful rock bands hit the stage Friday as Blue Oyster Cult and Jefferson Starship hit the stage at the Medina Entertainment Center. Blue Oyster Cult -- famous for such rock classics as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla" and "Burnin' For You", have been rocking audiences around the world for almost 50 years. Jefferson Starship, a direct descendant of Jefferson Airplane, has been touring for over 40 years playing hits like "Jane", and "Miracles". Tickets for this one-two punch of classic rock groups start at just under $40.

Two big acts from the turn of the millennium are coming to Minnesota for a one-night show this weekend as Smash Mouth and Uncle Kracker perform at Mystic Lake. Smash Mouth rose to fame in the late '90s with hits like "Walkin' On The Sun" and "All Star" while selling over 10 million albums worldwide. Uncle Kracker's 2001 debut album Double Wide went double-platinum in 2001 thanks to the hit song "Follow Me". Tickets for this one-night-only event start at $39.

A night highlighting the beauty and artistry of multiple forms of dance is coming to the Gorecki Center on the campus of The College of Saint Benedict. TU Dance is one of the leading dance groups in Minnesota celebrating the connective power of dance by melding different styles like classic ballet and African movements with modern dance to create a highly unique experience. A powerful show never before performed by GREAT Theatre hits the stage at the Paramount Theatre in downtown St. Cloud this week with The Diary of Anne Frank. This is a new adaptation of the harrowing true story of the Holocaust seen through the eyes of a young girl. It is an impassioned drama about the daily fear, grief and hope experienced by eight people in hiding from the Nazis during WWII. Tickets for this 10+ show start at $19 with discounts available for seniors and students.

No need to be ashamed of jamming out to your favorite "guilty pleasure" songs at the Pioneer Place this week as the Fabulous Armadillos finish their Guilty Pleasures series. The locally loved Armadillos celebrates such guilty pleasures as Barry Manilow, Donnie and Marie, and the Partridge Family. Tickets for the last two nights of this show are $37.
