Johnny Winter must have been quite a sight to the multitudes gathered at Woodstock in 1969 considering he was barely known.

Winter's debut album for Columbia Records had only been released two months before his Woodstock appearance.

His performance was breath taking, and it found him and his lean, rocking trio in great form, they nailed such signature tunes as (featured video below) "I'm Yours and Hers," as well as; "Leland Mississippi Blues," and the great "Mean Town Blues."

Bother Edgar Winter joined the band for a few numbers and that alone kicked it up a notch as they performed "Tobacco Road."

When asked in an interview, "Who would you say are some modern day blues players that you enjoy the most?"

Johnny Winter stated, "Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are my two favorites."
