Oh yes, The Simpsons – America’s most beloved modern cartoon. I honestly don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t love this show. And it’s easy to understand why. There’s so much to love. The antics, funny plot lines, and especially – all of the classic characters.

Let’s face it, even though it’s important to have interesting main characters in any given show, the background and secondary characters can really help give it depth and bring it to life. I don’t think there’s any other show around that has as many important secondary characters as this show does.

Not to mention, we’ve had roughly 30 years to fall in love with them. Which is why it’s all the more saddening when a character has to be written out of the show. Recently “Apu” – the Indian convenient store owner – was written out due to criticisms from the “PC culture” who say that Apu’s character is an exemplification of stereotyping and racism.

Personally, I think this is a shame. If there’s one clean cartoon on TV that both adults and kids can watch and be genuinely entertained it’s The Simpson. There’s nothing offensive or racist about it. Alas, the PC police strike again. Thanks a lot guys.
