  • Over the weekend, Queen's Brian May broke the news that late frontman Freddie Mercury's mother Jer died at the age of 94. May himself has been dealing with his own health issues. Last month, he canceled all of his remaining public appearances for 2016 due an unnamed but “persistent illness".
  • In honor of 50 years, the Grateful Dead are coming out with a new album reissue series! Starting on January 20th, when The Grateful Dead: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition arrives, the band’s studio and live albums will be released as special editions around the time of their anniversary dates.
  • It’s been almost a year since Stone Temple Pilot‘s lead singer Scott Weiland died, and it appears that the band has found their replacement. Entertainment Tonight reports that band members have selected former X Factor finalist Jeffrey Adam Gutt to take over as frontman.
  • Sammy Hagar has a new solo LP called This Is Sammy Hagar Vol. 1 — When the Party Started! It hit shelves last week, and has 14 tracks. Sammy said “with this collection, I wanted to revisit the music which would come to redefine my career post Van Halen,”.
