The beginning of The Who began in 1962 and they never looked back. Like some bands fame comes with tragedy.

Facts about The Who:

The Who were the pioneers of the rock opera concept (Tommy, Quadrophenia).
The Who were the first to use of electronic synthesizer and superior studio acoustical engineering
They released two dozen albums over 38 years which started in 1965.

History:

Initially they were known as 'The Detours and The High Numbers' before deciding to go with The Who.

Known for high energy, their live performances were very loud also they would destroy  several instruments

1965, 1966 and 1967 they scored three Top 5 albums and a series of Top 10 single in the U.K. "Happy Jack" and "I Can See For Miles" reached the Top 40 singles chart in the U.S..

Performances at the Monterey Pop Festival (1967) and Woodstock (1969) in the U.S. and Isle of Wight festival in the U.K. in 1970, the band became firmly established.

They have sold more than 100-million albums and singles.
