There’s certainly not a shortage of talent here in the land of 10,000 lakes – particularly musically. Minnesota has an enormous underground music scene with a very supportive following.

There are always cool bands and artists floating around that are every bit as talented as the big acts. Of course, in Minnesota, it seems like every musical artist lives in the shadow of Prince (except for maybe Bob Dylan) but in the post-Prince era of

Minnesotan music there are definitely a couple of groups that are on their way to stardom. One such group is Trampled By Turtles. The folk/bluegrass group formed in Duluth in the early 2000s has gained quite the following over the past few years.

I have to say, even though bluegrass isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, these guys have enough of a rock influence that I can really dig what they’re doing.

I have some friends that have been bugging me to go to one of their concerts for quite a while now, and it looks like I’ll finally get the opportunity soon. Trampled By Turtles is playing the Minnesota State Fair on August 25th at 6:30 pm. You can get a ticket online now for as cheap as $30.
