The Twins fell 5-4 to the Detroit Tigers Monday night at Target Field to fall to 8-11 on the season. The Tigers picked up their third straight win and are now 14-6 on the season, good for first place in the American League Central.

Tommy Milone struggled in his start for Minnesota, lasting just four innings after allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks. Milone gave up home runs to Yoenis Cespedes and Jose Iglesias in the first inning to dig his team a 4-0 hole.

The Twins scored runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings and got the potential tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth but could not complete the comeback against Tigers closer Joakim Soria.

The Twins and Tigers are scheduled to meet again Tuesday night at Target Field. Mike Pelfrey (1-0, 2.65) will get the start for Minnesota against the Tigers' Anibal Sanchez (1-2, 5.96).
