The Twins declined to pick up the $9.25 Million team option on Scott Baker's contract making him eligible from free agency. The Twins would like Baker to return but not for that price. Baker missed all of the 2012 season after getting ligament replacement surgery on his elbow (Tommy John Surgery). The 31-year old Baker has a 63-48 record with a 4.15 ERA while with the Twins in his career.

Baker was a 2nd round pick by the Twins in 2003. The Twins are bringing back starting pitcher P.J. Walters. Walters agreed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Walters was 2-5 with a 5.69 ERA in 12 starts for the Twins this past season.
