The Twins announced Sunday that they have demoted pitcher Pedro Hernandez to AAA and have recalled former first round draft pick Kyle Gibson from Rochester. Gibson will make his first start on Saturday night at Target Field.

Twins fans had been growing impatient as the major league rotation has struggled mightily in 2013. Gibson, who had Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery after the 2011 season, was 7-5 with a 3.01 ERA. Gibson notched 79 strikeouts in 92 innings pitched.
