Twins Swept In Thursday Twinbill At Target Field
The Minnesota Twins were swept in a doubleheader by the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday. Los Angeles took game one 9-4, then topped the Twins 4-3 in 12 innings in the nightcap.
Twins starter Mike Pelfrey continued to disappoint in game one, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks in just four innings pitched. The veteran's ERA is now sitting dangerously close to eight (7.99) on the season.
Brain Dozier drove in a pair of runs in the game, and Jason Kubel was credited with the only other run batted in for Minnesota.
The Twins were just 1-10 with runners in scoring position in game two while allowing 12 walks to Dodgers hitters.
Los Angeles slugged three home runs late in the second game, tying the game in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from Adrian Gonzalez. The Dodgers took the lead in the top of the twelfth on solo shots from Scott Van Slyke and former Twin Drew Butera.
The Twins host the Orioles Friday night.
