The Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 Monday in the 2017 season opener at Target Field.

Miguel Sano got the Twins on the board with a solo home run into the second deck of the left field seats that traveled a distance of 423 feet. Minnesota then broke a 1-1 tie with six runs in the seventh inning, including three runs on walks by the Royals bullpen.

Ervin Santana earned the win for the Twins with 7 innings of one-run, two hit ball with three strikeouts.

The Twins and Royals will meet again Wednesday afternoon at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. on AM 1240 WJON.
