The Minnesota Twins (80-75) beat the Detroit Tigers (72-83) 7-1 this afternoon at Comerica Park -- taking 2 of 3 this weekend from the Tigers. The Astros and Angels also both won today leaving the Twins 1.5 games out of the final AL Wild Card spot (currently held by Houston). There are 7 games left in the regular season.

The Los Angeles Angels are just ahead of the Twins in the Wild Card race, a half game behind Houston. The top Wild Card spot is currently held by the Yankees. The two Wild Card teams will play a one-game playoff following the regular season -- with the winner advancing to the Divisional Playoff Series.

Toronto, Kansas City, and Texas would be the respective American League division winners if the season ended today.

The Twins start a four-game series tonight in Cleveland, and finish the regular season this weekend with three games at Target Field against the Kansas City Royals.
