ALBANY TOWNSHIP - Two teenage boys from Albany have admitted to starting the fire that damaged a bridge on the Lake Wobegon Trail over the weekend.

Stearns County Sheriff's investigators interviewed and obtained admissions from the 16-year-old and 14-year-old, that they were responsible for the fire.

The blaze was reported Saturday night in Albany Township. It happened at about 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Wobegon Trail bridge at Schwinghammer Lake, east of Albany. A bicyclist, 56-year-old Robert Youngdahl of St. Cloud, was using the trail and spotted the fire. When fire crews arrived they found the bridge fully engulfed.

The trail was temporarily closed. The bridge has since been inspected and has been determined to be safe to use.

The boys were released to their parents. The case will be forwarded to the Stearns County Attorney's Office for review of charges.
