"Yeah. My fake uncle is one of the biggest singing stars in the world. You would like to meet him, yes? Uncle Elton, could you come here for a moment?"

Sir Elton John was among the famous faces at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton today in London. I don't know about you, but it was odd to me to see him singing as part of the congregation and not as a featured singer during the ceremony. What's even more odd is that British pop star Ellie Goulding was chosen to sing Elton's "Your Song" for the couple. Elton performed a revised version of his hit "Candle in the Wind" for Princess Diana's funeral in 1997.

All the hoopla aside, Elton said in an interview with Barbara Walters that despite his friendship with Princess Di, (and the fact that her boys used to refer to him as "Uncle Elton") he had only met Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry a few times and was surprised to get an invitation. He recalled that his "heart sank" for the Princes upon word of Diana's passing and said that seeing Prince William (now Duke of Cambridge) all grown up and walking down the aisle with a beautiful woman was "most joyous"  and believes that his mother would have been very happy today.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
