SAUK RAPIDS - A vacant building in downtown Sauk Rapids is undergoing a major renovation. The Godzala/Brenny team at Edina Realty has owned the building at 22 North Benton Drive for three years. They began remodeling the space earlier this year.

Jesse Godzala says you might remember it as the former floral shop.

I don't know if it was the first Sauk Rapids floral shop, but it's the only one that I could find when we looked back in the records. It was a floral shop for eight years, 'Make a Memory Floral and Gifts'. We bought it back in 2013 and that's when it ceased to be a floral shop, and its been vacant ever since.

Jonathan Brenny says, when you drive or walk by, you'll notice their new corrugated steel awning right away.

We wanted to go that route there to keep the industrial feel and preserve the history of the building with the exposed brick. What people are going to see when they drive by is the metal awning, they're going to see the new windows, they're going to see the banners coming down, which is different than any other buildings that you'll see in Sauk Rapids because we wanted to stand out.

Jesse Godzala says the building dates back to 1946.

They're hoping to move into their new offices by the end of the month.

It will be the only brick and mortar real estate office in Sauk Rapids, and just the second in all of Benton County.
