Set to music by Paul Simon and recorded by Simon and Garfunkel on the duo's 'Sounds Of Silence' album (1965), "Richard Cory" is based on a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson.

Van Morrison gives a nice impression the Morrison way on the album  'Them Again.'

His addition of "and I don't dig my poverty" is an everlasting time-era gem.

The song is a tale of Richard Cory from the perspective of a man who works in Cory's factory. The factory worker is envious of the advantages and enjoyments available to Cory, believing Cory to be a satisfied man.
