The Minnesota Vikings have acquired center Nick Easton from the San Francisco 49ers today in a trade that sends linebacker Gerald Hodges to the Niners. The Vikes also get San Francisco's sixth round pick in the 2016 draft.

Nick Easton is in his rookie season after graduating from Harvard; acquired as a free-agent by the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore than traded Easton to San Francisco before the start of the season.

Vikings center John Sullivan has been on short-term injured reserve following back surgery, but Minnesota GM Rick Spielman says that the trade for Easton does not mean the team is expecting Sullivan to be out for any unexpected additional time.

Easton was the highest-rated center in the preseason per Pro Football Focus, and made the 49ers 53-man roster, but has not suited up the past two weeks.

The Vikings have a bye this week, and return to action Sunday, October 18th against the Kansas City Chiefs at TCF Bank Stadium.
