Vikings Release Kicker Walsh
The Minnesota Vikings released kicker Blair Walsh Tuesday morning. Walsh had been with the team since being selected in the sixth round of the 2016 draft.
Walsh put together a fantastic rookie season in which he made an NFL-high 35 field goals and was 10/10 from 50 yards or more. However, Walsh saw his field goal percentage slip to 74.3% in 2014, and he missed a potential game-winning 27 yard field goal in the 2015 playoffs against Seattle.
The Vikings had a number of kickers at their Eden Prairie training facility last week, but have not announced Walsh’s replacement yet. The Vikings host the Arizona Cardinals Sunday (12 p.m.; AM 1240 WJON).
