EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Minnesota Vikings have released veteran wide receiver Mike Wallace after one season with the team.

The Vikings traded a 2015 5th round pick to the Miami Dolphins for Wallace and a 7th round pick last March.

Last season, Wallace finished with only 39 catches for 473 yards and two touchdowns as he and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater struggled to find a consistent connection.

The 29-year-old wideout still had two years left on the $60 million contract he signed with the Dolphins in the 2013 offseason.

Reports say the cut saves the Vikings nearly $12 million this year.

NFL Free Agency kicks off at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday).
