EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Minnesota Vikings continued their free agency spending period by signing veteran free safety Michael Griffin.

Griffin, 31, played for the Tennessee Titans in each of his nine NFL seasons since being drafted 19th overall out of Texas in 2007. Terms of the deal are one year at $3 million.

The two-time Pro Bowler has recorded 24 interceptions in his career, but only picked off one pass last season before being cut by the Titans last month.

The Vikings were reported to be the favorites to sign former Cincinnati Bengals safety Reggie Nelson.
