What Are the Words to Pour Some Sugar on Me

What are the words to that song? Don’t ask Joe Elliott because he doesn’t know either.

In an interview with MTV, Joe Elliott admitted he doesn’t know why or how the words came out when he was writing the song and he doesn’t even know what they mean.

Def Leppard recently said that they were re-recording their old hits due to a major disagreement with their former record label over their back catalog, so to regain control of it, they’re remaking their hits, but Joe admitted that it has not been easy and they’re not going to change a thing because Joe says he hates it when artists do that. He says the “new” version of the old songs are “100 percent forgeries” of the originals.

So, as they are forging Pour Some Sugar on Me, Joe explains that the phrase is a metaphor, but the “sugar” they sing of is not for your bran flakes, that is, unless you want them to be ruined. So, what does it mean? Joe says it means whatever you want it to mean and I guess if you look deeper into it, the “peaches and cream” are euphemisms for breasts and…um…cream.

You see? The song is an English lesson about metaphors and euphemisms. Joe says the “sugar” is love and emotions. Do you know all of the words to the song?

Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe, Hey, hey!

Love is like a bomb, baby, c’mon get it on
Livin’ like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin’ like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
Razzle ‘n’ a dazzle ‘n’ a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah

Hey!
C’mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can’t get enough

I’m hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet, yeah

Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin’ on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah, yeah
Give a little more

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can’t get enough

I’m hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah

[guitar solo]

You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
’cause I’m hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet

Do you take sugar? one lump or two?

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can’t get enough
Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Ooh
Pour some sugar on me
Yeah! Sugar me!
