Hint: He has been hitting the skins and threatening BBC Radio disc jockeys since 1964.

Happy birthday today to Nick Mason. The legendary Pink Floyd drummer has played on every single Pink Floyd album and is the only constant member of the band since its inception in 1965.

Though Nick was a constant throughout the band's history, his voice has only been used on a few occasions. One being the Corporal Clegg album and "One Of These Days" (from the 1971 album Mettle) where he utters the line, "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces." He also speaks on "Signs of Life" and "Learning to Fly". The spoken portion from "Fly" was actual audio taken of Nick speaking to an airport communications tower during his first ever solo flight. Nick sang lead vocal on two unreleased (but widely bootlegged) songs, "Scream Thy Last Scream" and "The Merry Xmas Song".

Nick has also stepped out of his comfort zone behind the skins and played guitar, bass and keyboards on Ummagumma and Outside the Wall. He also played keyboards on an album called Profiles he released with Rick Fenn in 1985. Here is the video for a song off that album called "Lie for a Lie".  Also see if you recognize the singers voice.

If you guessed David Gilmour, you're right!
