Who’s Stealing The Manholes?

Of all things for people to steal, manhole covers. Really? And For What Purpose?

The investigation of more than $15,000 in manholes covers that were stolen is under way in Danville,Virginia.

The manhole covers were stolen from various parts of the city and why?

So far 50 manhole covers are gone.

it's believed that who ever is stealing the covers, the culprits are using some pretty heavy duty equipment, i.e., a backhoe or maybe a tractor.

One can get a lot of money for scrap metal so that could be the bottom line for the thefts.

Whoever is buying the manhole covers from the thieves, don't you think they might question the amount of manholes covers they're buying? At least follow the news noting manhole covers are being ripped off?
