The Minnesota Wild (31-22-7) scored their only goal in the first period, falling to the visiting Edmonton Oilers (18-34-10) 2-1 last night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Thomas Vanek was the lone Minnesota scorer. Benoit Pouliot scored two first-period goals for the Oilers.

The loss ended the Wild's three-game winning streak and was Minnesota's first loss at home since January 19th. It was only Minnesota's second loss in regulation since the All-Star break where they have gone 11-2-1.

Minnesota still sits in the eighth and final playoff spot, one point ahead of San Jose and Calgary.

Next up for the Wild; tomorrow night at Nashville (Radio: 1240 WJON, TV: NBC Sports Network).
