It wasn't pretty, but the Minnesota Wild beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild won by just a goal despite outshooting the Jets 30-15 and winning 45/61 faceoffs.

Jonas Brodin scored the Wild's first goal when he deflected a rebound off his glove and past Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec at 7:39 of the first period. After a lengthy review, officials determined that the puck went off the glove of the young Wild defenseman, but was not directed in and therefore counted.

Winnipeg tied the game with just under a minute left in the opening period on a 5-on-3 power play. Brian Little scored his third of the year at 19:17.

Matt Cooke got the Wild's second, and eventual game-winning, goal halfway through the second period. The goal was Cooke's team-leading second of the season.

Josh Harding made 14 saves to earn the win. Harding got the start in place of Niklas Backstrom, who was injured Tuesday in Nashville.

The Wild host the Dallas Stars Saturday night.
