The Minnesota Wild (34-22-7) remained one of the hottest teams in hockey by beating one of the other hot teams in hockey, the Ottawa Senators (27-23-11), 3-2 last night in a shootout at the Xcel Energy Center In St. Paul. Ottawa had won five in-a-row before last night. The Wild have won three in-a-row, and six of their last seven.

Minnesota jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second period on a pair of goals by Matt Dumba, but it didn't take long for Ottawa to tie it back up -- and that's where things stood until Charlie Coyle scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give Minnesota it's 14th win in the last 17 games.

With the win, the Wild strengthen their grip on the 8th and final playoff spot in the West, three point saved of San Jose and Los Angeles -- and just one point behind Winnipeg in the 7th spot.

Next up for the Wild; tomorrow night in D.C to face the Washington Capitals at 6 PM CT (Radio: 1240 WJON, TV: Fox Sports North).

Go Wild!
