Wild Look To Tie Team ‘Point Streak’ Record Tonight Against Carolina
Since losing six straight games in games in mid-January, the Minnesota Wild (27-20-7) have won nine of their last twelve, including nine straight games (7-0-2) of picking up at least one point -- a game shy of the team record. The Wild will be looking to tie that record tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes (19-27-7) in St. Paul.
The Wild's record ten-game point streak came in March, 2007 when they went 9-0-1.
During the Wild’s streak, special teams have played a huge role in their success. In the nine-game point streak, Minnesota’s power play has converted on 23 percent of its chances, while the penalty kill has only allowed one goal against (95.8%). In fact, the Wild hasn’t allowed an opponent power play goal in its last eight games, killing 22 straight.
Another note from the current streak; goalie Devan Dubnyk has started all twelve Wild games since joining the team in January -- including all of the past nine.
Carolina is coming off a 2-1 home loss against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
