The Wild used a pair of unique goals and some solid defense to top the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 Wednesday night at Xcel Energy Center.

Jason Zucker notched his tenth goal of the season less than 30 seconds into the game to give the Wild a 1-0 lead. Zucker shot from a tight angle off of Montreal goaltender Carey Price's back and into the net.

Jason Pominville scored with just under eight minutes remaining in the second period when he tried to duck out of the way of a shot from the point and saw the shot deflect off the shaft of his raised stick for the goal.

The Canadiens scored with just under a minute left in regulation to cut the Wild lead to one, but could not find the equalizer before time expired.

The Wild host Anaheim Friday night at Xcel Energy Center.
