The beloved tale of Pepperland and the Blue Meanies will surface this month in theaters prior to dry docking in my DVD player.

Yes! It's true! As Sloan first reported a couple of months ago,  Yellow Submarine is in theaters for a very limited run prior to its release on DVD.

The film has been given the digitally remastered treatment and will feature not only better audio and visual qualities, it's also an updated version of the film with tons of extras including the original trailer. Also included is a documentary chronicling the making of Yellow Submarine, a behind the scenes look at the film, pictures, interviews and commentary.

This is the second of two original Beatles films that are headed for theaters. The other is their entire first concert from February of 1964. That is set for a two night engagement on May 17 and 22.

Yellow Submarine will sail into theaters on May 10. It will hit DVD and Blu Ray May 28.

By the way, the George Harrison documentary, Living in the Material World hit DVD and Blu Ray yesterday.
