ST. CLOUD -- All roads lead to St. Cloud this weekend as 2,000 of the top athletes compete at the 2017 Kill Cliff Granite Games.

The three day event is held on the campus of St. Cloud State University, designed to push each athlete mentally and physically.

John Swanson is one of the Directors of the Granite Games. He says they have athletes from across the world in St. Cloud.

"New Zealand, Australia, Coasta Rica, Mexico, Germany. It's cool to see people that have no clue where St. Cloud is let alone Minnesota."

Of the 2,000 competitors, roughly 75 are from the St. Cloud area. Swanson says besides the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, Husky Stadium and the SCSU Fieldhouse, they will also use Powder Ridge and Lake George.

"They'll hit the lake Saturday and it will be fun to see how they handle that 400 meter swim."

Each athlete had to go through a qualifier in order to compete.

Spectators are encouraged to come check out the games, with tickets available at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

The Granite Games run through Sunday.
