Well, it's been a long time, 4 years to be exact but $5 Footlongs are coming back to Subway. Seems with all good news, there's a catch and this return of the $5 Footlong is no exception.

This past Tuesday, Subway announced that you would now be able to buy a Footlong for 5 bucks but, and here's the catch, if you buy two. This deal does not include any extras like chips or soda.

The $5 Footlong first made it's debut in 2008 and was a big hit. It had a few problems over the years since it was first introduced. Remember those pain in the ass customers that sued Subway in 2013 because the $5 Footlong was not as long as advertised.

$5 11 Incher just didn't have the same ring to it. Franchise owners were then told to make sure the Footlong measured 12 inches.

In 2016 Subway raised the price from $5 to $6. You can imagine that that didn't go over well with customers.

The price of subs has continued to rise. Today, a 12" tuna sub sells for $10 in Brooklyn, New York.

Since the pandemic lockdowns orders became a thing, Subway offered a Family Takeout Special with a buy two and get one free when purchased through their app.

This $5 Footlong deal is only being offered through this Summer. Evidently, many franchise owners are not crazy about the idea, saying their profit margins are already pretty lean.

So, take advantage while you can.
