It seems with cell phones constantly changing and becoming better every day that it becomes necessary to get a new phone about every two years. But what do you do with your old phone?

Sometimes, you can get a little on trade in when you buy a new phone. Usually, it's less than a third of what you paid for it new. Some put them up for sale on Craigslist or some other shopping site but then you have to deal with the hassle of selling it.

Here are 4 ways you can repurpose your phone and avoid all the hassle.

As long as you have WiFi, let your kids use it to play video games.

Roku and Amazon Fire let you use your phone as a remote for your TV. Again, you need to have WiFi.

Use it for reading e-books. Especially, ir you are outdoors at the beach, you can avoid getting sand and water on your good phone.

Keep it in your glovebox and use it as an emergency phone. you don't need a data plan to call 911, according to U.S. law. Just check it occasionally to make sure it's charged.

Use it as a spare camera or pocket mirror
