As a 90s kid, the “grunge” era of rock music has a special place in my heart. There’s nothing quite as cathartic as the frigid wind of adolescent rebellion, right? I love all of the bands from the grunge movement – Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, the list goes on and on.

Of course, one of the pioneering bands of the 90s sound was Soundgarden. While many of their peers stuck to simplistic songwriting, Soundgarden pushed the envelope with odd time signatures and experimental song structures.

They were truly a revolutionary group. Unfortunately, frontman Chris Cornell passed away in 2017 due to an apparent suicide. He was so well respected amongst his musical peers that almost every known rock musician from the grunge movement showed up to pay their respects at the recent Chris Cornell “I Am The Highway” tribute concert.

Artists such as Foo Fighters, Metallica, Jack Black, Ryan Adams, Miley Cirus, Adam Levine, Chris Stapleton, and the remaining members of Soundgarden and Audioslave performed in honor of the late singer. You can check out the full concert online now.
