'Absolutely Live' is The Doors first live release that included various locations Los Angeles, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York and Copenhagen, Denmark. The album was a double album with performances from 1969 and 1970.

On this album which was produced by Paul Rothchild it had tracks put together from performances of the same song in different cities. Paul envisioned this as "the perfect Doors show." According to Paul, "There must be 9,000 edits on that album."

The album was released in July 1970 and reached at #8 on the U.S. album chart.
