Alice Cooper’s Stolen ‘Wayne’s World’ Jacket Returned
Cooper's website (via BraveWords) reminds us that some of the most valuable items lost in the break-in included the sculpture used on the cover of his 'Hey Stoopid' album and the leather jacket (created by designer John Richmond) that he wore during his 'Wayne's World' cameo. The statue is sadly still AWOL, but the jacket has been returned to its rightful owner, thanks to what sounds like an intrepid bit of dumpster diving.
As Cooper's webmaster puts it, "The story we got was that an anonymous gentleman claimed to have found it in good condition behind a dumpster in Culver City, Calif. The man seemed to know what he had found and immediately took it to the LAPD in Culver City. Apparently he wanted to remain anonymous and was not interested in any reward. The LAPD contacted us, arrangements were made to have it picked up and it was finally sent home to Alice in Phoenix. Alice is thrilled to have it back, so much so that he took it out of its glass case and is now wearing it regularly!"
Given the amount of publicity the theft generated last year, Cooper's team believes the guilty parties are afraid to fence their ill-gotten gain -- which means the 'Hey Stoopid' statue might still be out there, waiting to be found. If you have any leads, be sure to pass them along to email@example.com.
