Do you know why Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the biggest night for bars? I wouldn't have believed it, but it makes total sense. Do you generally go out that night?

My wife and I usually go out to a bar near our house, and it makes complete sense after doing some research and finding out about 'why' many go out that night. Here are some reasons why people naturally decide to go out this coming Wednesday:

  • Many members of your family are in town. The next day is a big family gathering day. You have built-in babysitters with the older kids, so getting out and hitting the bars is only natural.
  • Tons of old friend are back in town (if you live in your original hometown). This is the one time of the year that old classmates and friends you grew up with are visiting their family for Thanksgiving. It's a great night to catch-up with your old buds!
  • You don't want to cook that night. You'll have enough cooking to do the next day. There's a few people over so it sounds like a great idea to have somebody else cook on this night.
  • Hangovers go great with Thanksgiving food. For some reason we go out and close the bar down Wednesday night. If could be because everybody is out, tons of family is over, and of course most of America doesn't have to work the next day...so why not drink it up? We all know that sleeping until late morning and eating Thanksgiving dinner turkey is the ultimate cure for a hangover.
Sober Driver

With all the fun, keep in mind to be safe. This is amateur night and St. Cloud is a college town, so drinking will be heavy all over the place. Before you head out, have a sober designated driver figured out. Ask a family member that is staying inside if they would be willing to pick your group up and take you home safe. Otherwise, plan to call a cab to get you home. Yellow Cab is the official "Sober Cab" for the St. Cloud Hospitality Association, which most area bars are members of.
