It's art, it's on the ice, and it's part of what we want/expect from a Minnesota winter.  Last year, this annual event had to be cancelled after a set up a month later than usual, and then had to be cancelled after just a few days on the ice.  It was way too warm last year, and the ice was not safe.

The event is scheduled every year in January and takes place on Lake Harriet.  The times of the event are each Saturday and Sunday January 18th through February 9th from 10am to 4pm.

It's fun, and it can be slippery.  So, make sure you prepare yourself and dress appropriately for the conditions.

This year we are featuring 20 shanties and over 20 performances + art actions. Read the project descriptions here!

Every shanty is activated by artists from 10am – 4pm during each program day. Performances + art actions happen within the village at scheduled times.

Check out the 2025 schedule of Performances + Art Actions here!

If you get hungry, they have you covered there too.  There will be hot food and beverage vendors nearby so you can get fueled up while you check out the 20 different art shanties.
