The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for portions of central Minnesota in effect until 9 pm tonight -- including Douglas, Morrison, Pope, Stearns, and Todd (+more) counties.

Blizzard conditions are reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less in blowing snow, with winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

Road conditions have deteriorated across northwest Minnesota. As wind gusts increase this afternoon, blowing snow will create near whiteout conditions. A Blizzard Warning has been issued for the counties shaded in red. See http://511mn.org for current road conditions.

Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.

The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511. Road conditions can also be found at 511mn.org.
