Brady DeGagne Dancing for B & G Clubs SMART Girls Program
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- One of the six community dancers in this year's Women's Fund Presents Dancing With Our Stars is Brady DeGagne.
He works at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota and the charity he is raising money for is the Club's SMART Girls program.
DeGagne is no stranger to giving of his time and volunteering in the community, he's on the Tanner's Team Foundation Board, the Sauk Rapids-Rice Boys hockey coach, involved in the youth hockey program, the current Chamber Top Hat Ambassadors chairperson, and formerly on the Sauk Rapids Education Foundation board.
He says giving back was instilled in him at a young age.
My parents were super involved and wanted to see things grow and they always instilled that notion of volunteerism. It's what makes the world go round. Love to be able to help out and obviously being part of a nonprofit I get to see that from the other side and how it affects what we do every single day.
He says the SMART Girls program has been in place for several years now and he has seen the positive impact it is making.
Around attitudes, lifestyles, healthy relationships, life skills, nutrition, activity all of those kinds of things. Very beneficial to watch, since I've been in the organization for almost five years now, seeing some of these young people grow up and pursue excellence down the road.
DeGagne says the money he is raising while dancing will help pay for things like staff, supplies, and materials for the SMART Girls program.
DeGagne says he does have some experience dancing being a member of some ballroom dance clubs in college.
His professional dance partner is Rachel Trout. They are practicing at the Eastside Club's dance studio.
He suggests you follow the Boys & Girls Clubs Facebook page for announcements about fundraising events for him. You can also donate to him right now online.
Dancing With Our Stars Live is on Monday, June 10th at the College of St. Benedict. Tickets are on sale now and you can buy them online.
Social Hour: 5:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
The show begins: 7:00 p.m.
Coming up over the next several weeks we'll be featuring each of this year's dancers for the Dancing With Our Stars event.
