Today is Veteran's Day. There are a few events planned in St. Cloud over the next few days to celebrate.

On Sunday, November 11, Grand Casino Mille Lacs and Grand Casino Hinckley will show their appreciation for veterans and active servicemen and women by offering them a free meal at the Grand Buffet.

- The mood was somber and contemplative Tuesday afternoon outside of the St. Cloud Police department as more than 100 people, including police, fire and military personnel, bowed their heads in observance of the 11th anniversary since the attacks on September 11th, 2001.

The world watched in breathless silence on July 20th, 1969, as Commander Neil Alden Armstrong became the first Earth dweller to set foot on the Moon. Today, Armstrong is again, taking another step into a great unknown.

Wounded warriors that may have lost a limb or suffered an injury while serving our county can find a renewed purpose in life and engage in physical activity. The Heroes Project is making sure of that, as it works to help combat-injured vets overcome their individual circumstances by climbing the highest peaks in the world. That’s not only a “feel good” mission but an incredibly badass one as well
