Coronavirus is Getting Closer- Wisconsin Confirms Case

It's getting a little closer than any of us would like.  Wisconsin has their first confirmed case of the Coronavirus.

This is the first case in Wisconsin, but the 12th in the country.

A Wisconsin resident has been sickened with a new virus that originated in China and spread across the world, the first case in Wisconsin and the 12th in the country, health officials said Wednesday.

The patient is an adult isolated at their home but state health officials would not say where they are located, their age or any other details. More details about the person's location will be coming later from the local health department, said Dr. Ryan Westergaard, chief medical officer in the Department of Health Services Bureau of Communicable Disease.

Hopefully they get this figured out, and it will be contained.  Sooner than later.  They do add that the risk to other residents is fairly low.  But it's still a good idea to practice good hygiene.  As in, washing hands often.  And keeping your area clean around you if you are using something that other people use as well... like at work or school. Keep those sanitary wipes handy!  If you feel sick, like you may be coming down with a cold or the flu, stay home.
